I have two XD's without safetys that I'm perfectly happy with. I called Springfield's customer service and they said they'll continue to offer XD's without the safety.

Yeah, what you said or unnecessary doo dad. Either way part of why I got an XD was the absence of manual safeties. As far back as the 30' or 40's Fairbairn & Sykes suggested removing any manual safeties on your duty/carry gun. To paraphrase, Just one more thing to get you killed.

Agree with Sixto....The XD is perfectly safe. Do not need one more thing to worry about if needed quickly.

Correct, that was the mindset. I think it is going to be available as an option, and that new XD's can still be had without them.
