Anyway, thanks for the pat on the back for making the right decision of making sure I at least have something to carry and not going completely defenseless for the next 2-4 weeks. Besides, how many on this forum have had to actually fire their weapon? And many times the displaying of the weapon is enough.

/response rant
Apparently, I did not succeed in pulling off a joke. I understood that if you only have *one* pistol it is obvious that you do not have the funds for more right now due to if you did you *would* probably have a bakers dozen pistols because it is addictive. You having one pistol has no effect on what I think or would think about you. I have friends that own no firearms at all because they can't afford to buy any and I think no less of them either. In fact, they are very successfull people that choose to spend their money on their kids education among other things that takes up an outragous amount of their income per year and you have to respect that.

Also, I will add that if you intend on pulling your weapon in self defense that you should *only* pull that weapon if you are honestly in fear for your life, your families life or that of a third innocent persons life.

Pulling/brandishing your handgun to merely make what you might feel as a problem go away is a very good way of getting yourself in trouble and possibly with charges for brandishing your weapon, loss of your CHL, etc. If you are drawing down on someone you had better be in imminent fear of life and intend on firing your gun to save that life.

Chalk it up to the lack of tone felt in internet discussions. My response was half-ribbing as well.

I'm sure you agree that drawing should be last resort. And even in that last resort, drawing with "intentions" to fire and actually needing to may be different. My last resort is actually firing the weapon to stop the offense, if drawing with intention to fire is enough to stop the threat then I am ok with that too.

Anyway, back on topic...I'm looking forward to the new magazines and putting them to work and am crossing my fingers that everything just works the way it's supposed to.

I'll keep everyone updated.

I'm kinda jealous. I'd love to be as proficient as you must be at clearing malfunctions.

Yes, they will, even the komifornia compliant 10 round mags, I know because I bought 3 of them for $33 bucks for use as range mags, only problem is you have a gap where the extension spacer would go, if this isnt a problem for you then they will seat fine and lock into place, just look ugly.

I would be very surprised if the new magazines do not solve your problem. Regarding magazines, I recently bought a special that Springfield had which included three magazines, two dual magazine holders, and an XD holster for $50 (XD 40 SC). [Not listed as a separate deal on the Springfield website]. Disregarding the magazine holders and the holster which I did not need, the average cost was $16.66 for each magazine. The Springfield list price is $24.95 for the subcompact or $35.95 for the extended. Many dealers selling the XD brand will have it priced at much less. I am confident these also are available in your area for less than list price. Because you already have had jamming problems, be careful not to get any off brand knock off.

Well it's the same malfunction each time, so I have had some practice. Additionally, it's a failure to feed, so it's not like I have to shake it or do anything out of the ordinary to clear some used shell casing or something. Just rack the slide and we are good to go. I wouldn't say I'm a ninja at it, but my buddy I was sharing a lane with didn't even know I was having problems until I was complaining about it after the shoot.

I just bought the ones directly from SA since I was on the phone with them and, if it's a mag problem, they are going to reimburse me anyway. I definitely was on the same page with you about that one.

UPDATE - I received the new mags from Springfield. Will probably check them out this weekend at the range and report back.

Thumbs up Range Report

I'm happy to report that I shot 100 rounds of Walmart White Box through the 3 new mags and had zero FT_ issues at all. No issues with anything, ammo ran through fine, everything went well. I know it was just 100 rounds and it was just 1 trip to the range...but that is the first trip in a few where I have had zero FT-anything issues.

Now, hopefully SA finds issues with the magazines I sent them and credits me back for 2 magazines. I can't imagine they would find no issues after the results I had today with the new ones they sent, but who knows.
