Just got off the phone with a guy at KelTec. Took perhaps 2 minutes total. He asked for my name and my address and said the spring is on it's way. :)

Now... when the spring comes, I'll make sure oiling it becomes part of my ritual, too.

Ok. Called KelTec Monday. Got the spring today. Will install this weekend.

Chalk another one up to KelTec's satisfied customers.

Replaced the spring and hammer this morning. Took maybe 30 minutes.

I only ran 7 through it and now my sweet little shooter is a jam-o-matic. Not quite stove piping but the empty casing just isn't getting out of the way fast enough and blocks the slide partially open.

Looks like another break-in period is needed until the new spring relaxes a bit.

Notice where that spring broke.
I'm "best guessing" it broke where the spring metal makes that 90 degree bend.
When they fabricate that spring they should curve that direction change - rather than forming a radical bend because they are creating an inherent weak link.
And since a broken mainspring will result in a catastrophic failure of the pistol...they should correct that.
I would consider that to be a minor design flaw.
I'm sure that for the astounding number of those handguns they produce it's not a super common problem but, it's still an issue that they could easily rectify.

It broke just above the butt cap between the pin and where the spring coils start. The new spring assembly that was sent looks to be thicker than the original so perhaps that is their corrective measure?
