I have a 230, which was the precursor to the 232, and it is as fine a weapon as you would expect from Sig. I'm not a big fan of .380 as a primary CCW, but I use mine when I need a low profile carry (tux, etc.) and it performs that role very well.

It is a top quality gun, but I'm also not sold on the .380, mainly because you can get guns now in 9mm te same size or smaller.

That's a fine choice for a CCW. They are compact, light, accurate, reliable, has a decent trigger, one of the best natural pointers out there, and the .380 round is A-OK, IMHO. You have your choice of alloy or stainless, regular or night sights, at least three grips to choose from and a plethera of holsters at your disposal. I have two, one a blue P232 for carry and second a Rainbow Titanium for collection.

I carry in a Galco Fletch which is very comfortable. I also have a Galco Miami Classic which in all honesty I don't care for. I'm not a shoulder holster fan and couldn't tell you why I bought it.

My 232 was the first handgun I purchased. I don't know if it will make my decision biased, but I still carry it to this day. I have several others now that I like to shoot more, my Beretta 92 and my 1911, but my little sig gets out to the range often.

I did end up putting on Hogue grips, which made a world of difference in comfort. And I carry this one in a Bianchi 100.

As for being a .380... If I could a gun that felt just as good, carried just a well, and was just as reliable, in a 9mm or a .40, that would be great, but for a nice small carry gun, my Sig is my first choice.

close to 1300 rounds through it, and not a single problem.

Two issues that I have to live with: The slide only locks open on an empty mag which makes it a little more difficult to hand someone my gun with the slide open (My preferred way of receiving a firearm, so it my preferred way of handing one to others), and when you are cleaning it, there is a small spring unit that sometimes like to fly across the room, so you just need to be a bit careful while you're breaking it down.

Other than that, its a great gun.

Can we talk you up to a 9mm?

The P232 is reliable and well designed, like all Sigs. It is very trim and small for easy concealment. If you want a .380 it is a good choice.

Like others above, I don't view a .380 as the best caliber for primary concealed carry, feeling that it is a bit underpowered. If you can conceal it, why not consider the slightly larger Sig P239, which is available in 9mm and larger calibers?

I also have a 230, and it sees occasional carry duty. Now that I have a PF9 and a P239, that will probably decrease...

Not to sound sexist, but the P230/232 is a great "ladies gun" in that it has very mild recoil for a small pistol, is very accurate, and is free of lots of extraneous controls. People who are new to shooting, who don't know a ton about various safeties/levers/what have you, have small hands, and so on will very often find the P230/232 a very good introductory weapon.

That being said, you could do FAR worse than a P232 as a primary carry, if your wardrobe and/or situation demands it.

I rented one at a range, and I was amazed how light and thin it is. The recoil is very mild and the gun is ultra accurate. Seems like it would be an easy gun to carry. I don't like the mag release, and I prefer a 9mm. Those were the only things keeping me from buying one.

I just picked up my new P232 Thursday. I'll be testing it later this week. I'll let you know my impressions of it. I'll be using ball and JHP's for testing.

Cool

Have had the P230 for about 15 years and will never get rid of it.
Simple, safe, accurate, reliable and feels so good in the hand.
Never really carry it though as there is no need to since I carry my HK P7's but I do have a Galco SOB that I've used it with a couple of times.
It makes a great pistol around the house for the wife should she ever have the need.
