For my Colt's with the beveled wells I use pads that are .535". For my CCW (Kimber) non beveled well I use the .285" pads. If you have a deeply beveled well on competition guns as I do,you have to have extra long base pads for ease of insertion. For a CCW you (IMO) don't need the pad to stick out any farther than needed for positive insertion into the mag well. Remember that you unfortunately might have to push your reload mag home with your hip,elbow,car hood,or fence post.--------

My CMC mags that came with the Kimber had these on them.

I removed them, doesn't look or seem right IMHO.

I use them, under stress if you fail to lock a mag all the way in, you could be in trouble. I think I screwed up two to three times in action pistol, there I onlly lose points in Nam it almost cost me more.That's carrying a 1911. Pads are easy on your mags.
