Slam pads?????????

Is it just me or do the slam pads take away from the beauty on a 1911? I would never put them on my mags, realy have no use for them.

I don't have one on my carry mag, but I do have them on my spare mags.
If you've ever had a failure to seat a mag in a match you'll understand why they are needed.
When under stress during a reload I'll take every advantage I can get to insuring the reload gets seated.

True, true I have never shot in a match. IMHO they take away from the timeless good looks of the 1911. Do you have a mag well on yours?

Bruce - I have pads on mainly my BHP mags but a few others too.

I like two aspects (aesthetics aside) - their obvious use making for a better and more reliable mag' insertion - but also, in comp's it means if they hit the ground base first, less chance of damage.

Yes, I do. But it is incorporated into the gun. Not an add-on.

Those are the exact same ones that I use with several of my weapons.Mine are even more ugly lookin'. They are very bright day-glo pink. I use these with a deeply beveled mag well. The color ?? --with just a quick glance you can tell weather you have a mag inserted or not. Not pretty but functional.---------

Gosh, I miss out on so much by carrying Sigs and H&Ks. It's enough to make a guy wonder.

Slam Pads

Some slam pads are way thicker than they need to be (in my opinion)
You really only need a bit of extra protruding thickness to insure that a mag will find home.
