Large stock - I'll say!

I was over in Johnstown this afternoon and after dealing with business and finally going into Staples, had a few minutes spare.

I noticed for the first time that an old WalMart was now a Gander Mtn store, having opened three weeks ago - just had to look!

Headed straight for the shooting section (yep, you guessed!) and wow! Did they have some inventory - oh my!!

Counters full of handguns, most new but some used as well and the selection was very wide. Too many Glock models to count, SIG's, Berettas, loaded 1911's, stack of revo's including a BFR 45-70 like mine and two Smith 500's. Boy - could I have spent some bucks!

As for long arms well - a VERY long wall lined with rifles and shotties. Ammo stock seemed good for variety plus reasonable selection of reloading stuff too.

I was impressed and prices did not seem too outlandish. First time I had been in a Gander Mtn - and it won't be the last!

You could claim it's the Gander Mountain bank and you have to make deposits and withdrawals.

Hahaha - well Ron, my ''deposit'' would be drool on the counter top, and my withdrawal? hmmm - that would be ''withdrawal symptoms'', as I left, empty handed!

No Ron - going in is not quite shopping - it is ''aggressive browsing''

And Bud - if I leave other than empty handed next time it will be because my plastic has been distorted to the point it is creaking - and then there'll be some 'splainin' to do

I won't go back for a while - I dare not!

Some marketing guru decided to open a Cabela's 70 miles from the house about 3 months ago- than decided a Bass Pro Shop 10 min from the house was a better idea. Oh, I pity my wallet now.

Gander generally has a great gunsmith in situ and an expert gunsmithing center in Iowa, I think. In this town they let me have the use of their lodge for a classroom, free. Check out yours, P95. Anyway, It's hard to eye the gun counter without a bib.
