RE: smokin' deal...I have many close friends in the industry that own shops, and this was NOT a true retail purchase. Please don't think that ANYONE violated MAP (minimum advertised price, for anyone who didn't know), because this was a trade in/cash combo that won me the Sig. I'm aware that I got very lucky.

No reflection on you or your purchase. Bud's and Impact are the ones that violated MAP, if the prices stated in Hoss' post were shown on their respective websites (which is the inferrence). A dealer can sell a gun for anything they desire - a manufacturer cannot dictate the "sell" price to a retailer. But they can enforce a MAP to protect the intrinsic value of their brand. As I said, you got a smokin' deal and all I am, of you, is envious. Bud's and Impact, if they are direct with Sig (which I assume they are) can be suspended from the dealer direct program for MAP violations. Enjoy your X-5, you're now a member of a pretty elite group of gun owners. Adios, Pizza Bob |

Scot Van -- sorry about this MAP junk. The only reason I even quoted the prices from Impact and Bud's was to comment on what a great deal you got on a beautiful firearm. I don't want this MAP business to take over the theme of your thread so this will be my last comment on it and again, congratulations on a great buy on a beautiful firearm. Hoss

No matter what, Bud's is a superior retailer and I simply refuse to believe that they would risk a relationship with ANY manufacturer to push the bottom line.

Update
Apparently, I'm wrong lots more often than I'd like to think...
Profuse apologies to Pizza Bob for my gaffe in misquoting the Sig listing price for the P226 X-Five Level 1. I was looking at the MSRP for the Comp model, and as he has pointed out, that is a different animal entirely. Thanks, PB, for setting me straight on the fact that Sig lists the P226 X-Five Level 1 at $2786. However, I don't know what Sig's MAP looks like. I suspect the MSRP and MAP are different. Finally, I just wanted to illustrate that my original post never had anything to do with MAP pricing nor did it mention any retailer. My $1500 cash that I laid out did not include the credit I got for the trade-ins, so I didn't walk away with the Level 1 for that little.
