My refurbished Coonan 357, continued
I got the Coonan back from the man who refurbs them and was the primary builder of these pistols for Dan Coonan when they were in business.
Here's a couple of shots of the Model B now in the safe. I'm told by the gunsmith who worked on this one that it's one of the finer examples he's seen, clean, taken care of and not shot a whole lot. Thought everyone might like to see some close-ups of the "back to factory original" 357 Coonan with the work performed by the armorer for Coonan back in the day [ he bought all the parts, etc that were available when they went under ]. She's got new springs in her [ recoil and firing pin springs ] and I've secured a spare of each spring as well as 4 extra factory original mags. Brownie I added your photo into our gallery Brownie. Many younger and more recent shooters/gun-owners have never even heard of the COONAN. Last edited by QKShooter; April 22nd, 2008 at 02:59 PM. |

Thanks Matt;
QKShooter; Yes sir , one with the gun which didn't work well [ got that fixed by the armorer ], and 3 more I found right after I bought it from another gentleman [ an exhaustive search to locate them took place ].Something about this gun that appeals to me, and having this one in the collection was worth the effort IMO. If I'm abducted by aliens, it's yours .Brownie |

? Can I have them? Those darn things are getting hard to find . I know someone that's been trying to find another one for his for quite a while and is kicking himself in the rear regularly for not buying more when they were $7 new....then jumped to $12, then to $20, then to ...well you get the idea.![]()

I'm amazed no one has started making a similar pistol again.
The idea of .357 Magnum ballistics in a pistol with all of the inherent safety and "pointability" of the 1911 design.... seems like a winner to me. Nice pistol, sir. I don't know much about Coonan's. What's the capacity? Can it handle full-house .357 loads? One of these bobtailed could be approaching "the perfect carry gun"... Peace, Pete Zaria.
