I think the poster means that as far as the state is concerned, the whole thing never happened.

I am also interested in hearing the outcome of this one!

Actually, I did have an LEO friend once that indicated that very thing. He would cruise the interstates that ran through town looking for a specific combination of things that, when put together, all added up to say, "something here is out of place and therefore suspect). Oftentimes it would be a rental moving truck. Other times it would be a car carrier hauling some piece of crap junker.

But, in the end, he made quite a few drug busts looking for that sort of activity. Word to the wise: only idiots rent U-Hauls to haul drugs. And I suppose that it's also true to say that when you have a U-Haul be double sure your nose is squeaky clean and your driving is exceptional, because it's a safe bet you are being watched.

Word to the wise? I just do not know what drug runners do or how smart they can be. I did not know that I was giving anyone the impression that I was being a drug runner really.

I doubt that's the case. Since your attorney can't seem to find record of your "offense" it looks a bit as if these guys just shook you down for $110.00 and sent you on your way. This thing reeks and I hope you get some justice somehow.

I'm not a sue-happy person, and I am a pro-leo guy, but if this turns out to be a shake-down by crooked cops, I'd turn the lawyer loose on them.

I agree, based on the principle. The one mechanism that keeps all the powers in check in our free culture is the law and a proper enforcement of it. If one power is too strong (i.e. Arkansas LEOs) and abuses their given power without warrant in a grossly irresponsible way, it's an injustice felt throughout all of society.

If it turns out like what it looks like, I hope the Arkansas Atty General will see to it that someone (or several someones--including tow truck folks if they are in on the deal) do lots of jail time.

[Is there a record of you paying them (tow truck folks) to get your truck back? If so, that is important evidence too. It begs the question, HOW did they get possession of your truck? On whose instructions? Get the point? If you have proof you paid the tow truck company to get your truck, there is proof you were taken into custody and "they" can't pretend nothing happened.]

Robbery is Robbery, and this sounds like aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery to me. And that is just the start of "the whole book."
Let's see. Conspiracy. Civil rights violations. And so on.

Again, assuming we are being told the truth, and I do think we are.

Hmmm, the dang incident is so so sooo serious, one really does have to wonder whether the 110 bucks the cop got and the few bucks the tow truck company got could possibly be worth their while for the risk.

Still, there are really bad folks out there--and even a few in uniform. So, good luck, and please keep us all informed as to developments.

My guess is that it isn't just $110 - run this scam a couple of times a day on a regular basis and you're looking at some pretty serious cash. Let's say $300 a day times three or four times a week and you've got around $50,000 cash that you don't pay taxes on.

The penalty if you get caught is that you lose your job and go to prison for a long time. The key is that in practical terms the penalty for doing it all the time is hardly any worse than the penalty for doing it just every now and then.

So - once they're willing to do it a few times - they'll realize that the incremental penalty for doing it more often is pretty minimal.
