I know, and I should have said this earlier that 95% of cops are good people trying to make an honest living and I knew only these types of cops in Baxter County Arkansas but this one just took the cake.

I called the guy who taught the CHL course to me and he recommended that I go to the ACLU since I am broke :( but thanks, I will certainly call the Arkansas Highway Patrol! Probably one thing that I haven't done yet.

Just caught that. You mean from that same State Office that by credible reports provided "services" to both of the Clintons. "Hick" is a state of mind, not a location.

Did you go before a Judge?
Did you have a trial by jury?
Were you fingerprinted?
Did you have mug shots taken?
Where you offered an attorney?
Did you speak to a District Attorney?
{/rhetorical}
You weren't arrested. Your situation is closer to a kidnapping than an arrest. If you want to try to teach 'Smith' a lesson, go ahead.

Either way, to have your right to own a firearm revoked you would have had to of been tried and found guilty of a felony. You left the jail the same day.

It just sounds like you are worrying about the wrong things.

You may have a speeding ticket on your record...its not the end of the world.

I am in no way condoning what the Highway Patrolman did. Contacting the HWP is probably a good start, good luck finding 'Smith.'

No judge, trial, fingerprints, mug shots, attourney or District Attourney. I will persue this now, thanks for the advice

Not to step on any toes, but we are getting just your side of the story, and you can spin it any way you wont to.

But Ive had little old ladies lie and file officer complaints on me, only to
show her the video later in the presence of the chief.

If its like you say, by all means do what you have to.
I'm sure Arkansas state Police has an IA division.

Best of luck.

Yeah, understand what you are saying but I am honestly hoping that the video is safe and untampered with! Honesty is the best policy, that has kept me out of trouble many times. BTW, how do I attach photos to this thread? I've got the reciept from paying the fine and the Towtruck. Sure enough it only has "Smith" on the fine's reciept and I will post the pic as soon as I figure out how to

I agree with this. Unless they you were actually found guilty, in a court of law, for a crime severe enough to restrict you from firearm purchases, there is no way they can take your right to own, purchase, or legally carry a firearm.

You have basically two alternatives. Either "get over it" and get on with your life. You are young and have lots of it ahead of you. If you can't get over it because it eats at you then get a lawyer for some professional advice.

I used to have the second attitude. But my little brother (now deceased) used to remind me that there were two important rules in life.
Rule 1: Don't sweat the small stuff.
Rule 2: Everything is small stuff.

When I began to carry, I began to internalize his rules. He would have been upset about my carrying, but I wish he was still around to see my adoption of his rule set.

Whatever you decide to do, live long and prosper.

Very strange that the offense is not specified. I think it is also strange, odd, and maybe unlawful, that you were arrested for a speeding offense in the state in which your license DL was issued. I don't know Arkansas laws, but some states specifically forbid that because of past abuses.

It doesn't even say speeding. It specifies no code or shorthand to an offense.

You really have two choices. Given that you were moving out of state, forget about it.

Find a real lawyer and stop posting details here.

Maybe if you are really lucky someone from the Arkansas IA will just happen across this post and your "kidnapping" will get investigated.

Now, I have a different subject and issue for you.

You apparently planned to drive through New York with your guns to get to your destination in Vermont. (I hope I recall that correctly from the original post.) While probably legal, doing so is unwise. NY, based on all the stuff posted here, is apparently its own little universe. I would have shipped it to Vermont through a FFL.
