Perfectly stated. Same here in NE Texas, SE OK, etc. Shut up. Pay. Leave.

Still sorry about your "Welcome Home Party" though.

Yeah, the German probably didn't help...

I would still call the highway patrol, the DA, the police station, the public relations guy from the police station, the news station, and just about anybody who would listen.

yeah, I hear a few you who say to just shut up, I used to feel the same way when I heard other people complain about a ticket that they got. I would even tell them to own up to their responsibility for breaking the law and to just pay the ticket and the ding on the insurance premiums.

Now...it has happened to me in a very bad way. I'll just update this when I get new info, hopefully it'll be better news :)

No, No, No! You shut up during the stop, and fight it, if appropriate, afterwards. Arguing with a LEO during a stop is not going to get you anywhere.

Talking to his supervisor/media/PR guy/etc afterwards can definitely make an impact. If only to make sure it doesn't happen to anybody else.

Yeah, interesting that no charges were written on the receipt. Call the IA division of the State Police & file a complaint against Cpl D.D. Smith.

I agree with the statements to "not argue with a LEO during a stop", but, if all this is actually true, and I have no reason to not believe him, this has got to be the scariest thing I have read during my short time on DC forum!

That is unbelievably hard to fathom that one could end up like he did in cuffs, taken to the station in a patrol car, basically harrassed for no reason, threatened with loss of his CHL and right to own firearms, his van with all belongings left on the side of a highway unprotected, then ticketed with no offense listed and left to walk 4 freakin' miles back to his van??? That is rediculous to say the least.

Then the cop, who told me his last name was "Smith" began to lecture me infront of the cops in jail as they seemed bewildered by the whole thing.
Lecture you for what, specifically? What was the infraction that was documented on the arrest report?

His lecture started out as his response to my statement that he could have said I was going 120 MPH or more, I still couldn't do or prove anything when he was so unchecked in his actions? I told him, in the jail mind you, that his actions violate a lot of liberties that I hold dear and that his actions were no different than if I were living in a junta, police state or dictatorship. He honestly acted like no cop that I have ever encountered before in my life, including park rangers. Then his lecture went into how he could "just call" Little Rock to revoke my CHL and kept saying "Do you think that I can't, huh? You think I can't do that?" and then he went on about court days, scheduling and how much a lawyer would cost for me.

Arrest Report? Was that something I should have seen or maybe signed? I wasn't finger printed, mug shot nor lined up for that matter. I have no clue what to expect in that situation, at all. There never was an infraction given or reason given for the arrest.

I just hope his video doesn't magically disappear...
