Help Me Out w/Gun Values
I am looking at a couple of guns that a guy I know is selling for his recently deceased, ex-military father. He needs the money to pay off some debt his dad left behind.
Kahr MK9 Elite (2000)- asking $600 Glock 26- asking $475 Both guns are in good condition with no obvious scratches or marks. Are these fair prices for those guns or should I pass? Also, what do you guys think of those guns for concealed carry & range fun? |

Price seems high for a used Glock 26.
No scratches or marks aside...used is still used.

I don’t pay any attention to glocks but $600 for a used Kahr is a bit high since you can get a new one for about the same price.

I'd pass unless you want to help the family out financially a bit.
You're not getting blatently cheated but, you're for sure not getting a deal either.

I think the $600 price for the used Kahr MK9 Elite is fair. I paid $500 for a used Kahr MK9 (not Elite) about 10 months ago, and the Elite normally costs more. Regarding the Glock 26, the $475 is perhaps slightly high, but not too bad. I think you could pay these prices without feeling abused.
You asked about the usefulness of these two guns. Both are excellent concealed carry guns, and can be fired comfortably at the range as they are both 9mm and handle recoil well, even though they are small. Both have a good reputation for reliability.

$400-$425 for the used G26 would be fair.

since my question relates to gun values as well, im thinking about selling my XD40 service so i can get the new XDm to replace it, it is bi-tone about 600 rounds downrange, and comes with xd gear and 5 mags. has a little scratch/mark near the rear site dovetail when original sights were put back in.
what would a dealer give me? what would private party value be? |

I check into GunsAmerica often to gauge the current market prices for used guns, then I'll find what they go for new on the internet or locally. Modifications to guns are like modifications to automobiles. To the right buyer they are a plus, but in general they are inconsequential and shouldn't add much to the asking price unless the market demands such modifications if you follow me. Extra mags or lights/lasers, and alternate grips and such accessories that are specific to the firearm being sold may add to the package price. State your asking price in your ad and get ready for offers even if you don't state OBO. Be honest with your interested buyers/traders and be prepared to state why you feel your asking price is fair and give information to support that. If you want a quick sale, start $50 below fair market value and stick to it-throw in a box of ammo (50) if it will seal a deal. Just some suggestions.
