Was any reason given? Plugged tube, perhaps? Double charged reload?

Gotta be bad to blow a GP!!! I haven't caught up on the supposed reason but has every appearance of a double/super hot charge of fast powder.

A squib with lodged bullet followed by second shot would usually cause just barrel bulge damage and not a rupture of chamber wall.

For those wanting to see a further selection of revo blow-up pics go browse the THR thread -

Thanks Bruce

It is tough to blow up a Ruger cylinder.
That is some tough Stainless steel that Ruger uses.
Sure enough did though.

A double charge can kill any gun... or shooter. The guy is lucky.

Compare that to a S&W or Taurus, though! Hammer it back in-round and Tig it shut, the other 5 are good to go!

(Yes, I am kidding, but only Ruger would hold together that well after something that catastrophic)
