If not bonded, why waste the money? Just smash it and push the entire piece of glass out of the opening. I worked for a glass shop, and we installed the real safety film. Bonded to all frames. We set up a demo, as we also built store fronts. Once bonded correctly, it was not going anywhere, unless you drove through it. ON topic, my new safe will be here soon according to Bud's, my closets aren't big enough to hold it, without demo'ing the walls, and rebuilding around it. I am guessing the attached garage will be it's new home. I plan on bolting it to the cement slab, and building a shelving/cabinet unit around it. Out of site, out of mind.
