Hi guys. I am disabled. I can't work. I get disability once a month.
Well, this month has been tough. I own three guns. Two of them are already in pawn. I have two young kids. I am completely out of money and food. I have no friends or family to borrow from. I expect to need to live until July 1st. So, my question is, should I pawn my only gun left and no CCW for three weeks? Or should I just make a "need food" sign and stand out by the hiway? I bet this sounds crazy to those of you who haven't been there, but I am there now, and it sucks. What should I do? ![]()

I'm sorry for your circumstances and wish you the best.
I might consider pawning my computer and cancelling my internet service before pawning my last gun...... |

I would, for sure, but the PC I use is not mine. My wife and I are splitting, it is hers. She won't do anything to help. I will not defend her, her actions speak for her. I myself, have nothing of value as I can never afford extras. My snub is it. If it was just me, no kids, I would just make do.... I am losing the wife on July 1st. But until then, also payday, I am desperate. But I really don't want to be defenseless, not to mention I just got my CCW like three weeks ago!

+1 There have to other things in your home you could sell first. Hang in there and best wishes. Maybe you could go deliver pizzas or something to make a little extra money until the first.

I, too, feel bad for your circumstances and wish you the best.
If it was absolutely necessary, and I was sure I would get it out as soon as I had the funds, I would pawn my firearm. I would prefer to sell something else, but if it was necessary I would. Here are some Missouri specific links that help disabled people around the Springfield area. If I were you I would take a look at them and make some calls. Good luck. Sound as if you are out of aces amigo. I can't advise you on what to pawn or what not to pawn but I can say "never lose faith", and never give up. I know it sounds trite but many of us who have hit rock bottom and bounced back can tell you, "this too shall pass".

Contact today your local/community Food Bank.
America's Second Harvest I grew up 'there' and am way familiar with your situation including homelessness too. Hit the food bank ASAP and if you have no transportation they often times will arrange home deliveries as well. - Janq

Any members in the Springfield area that would buy this gun and give the owner the option to buy it back at no interest? I'd do it if he were here...

Food, Clothing and Shelter come first. As much as I hate to admit it, guns are a luxery. They would be down on my list to sell if I needed money, but you got to do what you got to do.
What I would do in your situation would depend a lot on the type of disability that I had, as I'm sure I could come up with some creative financing to get me through.

Is there any assistance to be found beyond what you have?
E.g., food pantry; subsidized or reduced fee power; health for all type medical clinic. After exhausting those, I think the sign at the highway actually might be reasonable. And, are your children getting all the assistance they might be entitled to because of your situation? You say you are disabled. Are you getting payment from SS for your children? |
