i vote we evict all the people that are complaining of noise, and sell it dirt cheap to the gun club as "club housing" that way you are never too far from your favorite place :D

Happened with airports, it can happen with gun clubs.
It has and does happen with gun clubs. One of my clubs now has restrictions due to complaints from folks that bought condos abutting the property. Club has been there since late 1800s IIRC, condos are ~5-7 years old.

Restrictions by Town Meeting were put in place in another town due to complaints by residents about the noise.

A few clubs I know of have been shut down or severely restricted because of complaints by new residents.

Realtors have lied to buyers about clubs being in the process of closing down within a few months . . . just to make a sale. Illegal, but "he said, she said" will get the owners no-where if they push it. Instead they complain to town fathers . . . who do listen.

Now you're talking. I hate condos with a passion, but if the developers near one of my clubs had any sense, he'd offer a "deal" to club members who might want to buy there! Much better than trying to lie to potential buyers that the club is closing or further restricting activities.

Kindof like the people around here moving right on the lake and then freaking out the first morning of duck season. They wake up thinking they were dreaming of WW3.

It's very simple, you gun club is seeing the beginning of the end.

The homeowners will form some sort of community association, and then start dialing the local politicians. It will become a numbers game. When the number of complaints (meaning "Voters") is high enough, you'll have noise ordinances which at first limit the use of the range. Later, it'll get worse.

Oh, and remember you have to armor everything, vandalism will become a problem if you have any sort of structure on the property.

Heaven help you if any kid gets hurt on the property too. Regardless if he belonged there or not.

Do I sound bitter? Yep, I've seen it all before.....

If the noise complaints don't work, they'll complain about stray rounds.

When that doesn't work they'll complain about lead contamination.

Standard procedure to close a range.

The club just recently had a company come in for lead removal, and several tons were removed.

Those idiots don't know how lucky they are - I have to drive 54 miles round trip to my range.

When governments make laws, they must consider the unintended consequences.

Let's see...
  1. Put complete trust in person who just wants their money (developer).
  2. Did not bother to check out the neighborhood on their own.
  3. Complaining and pursuing legal action because they didn't practice due diligence and make sure they were spending their $250K wisely.

"Idiot" is too mild a word for them.
