Congrats on getting away from the anti thoughts of the family and making an informed decision. Now you should carry around them every chance you get. Don't be "ashamed" that you are getting in to the gun world.

Again, congrats on a big step in the right direction. A Glock would be a fine choice for your first handgun. If you liked the G17, try the G19 and you will fall in love!

never really thought about what first made me want to go out and shoot, ive always thought that guns were interesting from the mechanical point, how the simple pulling of a lever sets so many things into motion.

just really wanted to try it and finally got the chance.
