I agree. The whole world is on the "eco-friendly" bandwagon right now. They are all buying their "hybrid SUVs" that cost $5000 more out the door and net you 3mpg more....I think it's all a big joke..

Has anyone else heard of this? Is this now another "regulation," in order to have a new shooting range?
Mods LMK if this should be in another forum.
Do you have to purchase this very special ammunition from the range? It could be a pretense for them to sell ammo.

If I knew of a local range that claimed to be "green" or "eco-friendly", I would go out of my way to avoid patronizing it. All this hype about enviornmentalism these days is just a bunch of nonsense.

At least one local range here is allowing only jacketed ammunition (jacketed hollow points are ok). They say, that exposed lead bullets will cause lead deposits in the firing stall area. Having it removed is expensive. It is cheaper for them if all they have to remove is the lead in the bullet trap.

They do allow you to bring your own ammunition (had no issues with Wally World bullets so far).

Lead has become a big issue. I am not sure how justified it is for open air ranges. But as you deposit it into the ground, it may pass through drinking water. For outdoor ranges, I assume the ground pollution is the main issue, while for indoor ranges its the air quality in the range (you don't want to breath too much lead).
