Bought the Single Six .22

So I purchased the 50th Anniversary Ruger Single Six .22LR/.22/Mag that posted about the other day.

I've never owned a single action revolver before. What a fun gun! It's got a great trigger and it's a real shooter. At 25' you can tear out the bullseye. At 50', even a guy like me (call me "Shakes") can post respectable groups.

The very tall front sight took a little getting used to and the Ruger manual didn't offer a sight picture suggestion, but if the top of the front sight is level with the rear notch, it's dead nuts at 25'.

The gun is clean as a whistle and should be a nice hand me down to the kids someday.

Now I need to pick up some .22 Mag., switch out the cylinder and see how she does with that.

A single six is on my "short list" of guns to buy, I just can never find one at a decent price, or at least what I consider a decent price for a .22

You done good.

For $200. it was an absolute steal. I'd look for the cops to show up, but I bought it from a LEO.

A single-six .22 was my very first handgun ever, to this day still my favorite just for the fun value! It served many years in the woods and swamps as my primary 'snake-charmer'. Must have put 'ump-teen' thousand rounds through it too.

A GREAT gun. Congrats!

The 50th anniversary model has the Vaquero-style sights, and is not adjustable.

Pics forthcoming with the purchase of a camera battery.

Congrats!

My wifey inherited her dad's last Oct. and I too have discovered what a fun shooting revolver it is! Great trigger and accurate! It was still in the "western" holster & ammo belt it came with.

You'll luv it.

Congrats. I've been eyeballing a .22 revolver for some time and that one is very high on the list. Thanks for the review!

I don't even bother to shoot mine at 10 yards, once I was shooting at at 7 yards standing, using irons and the thing put all 6 rounds in one ragged hole using CCI standard velocity rounds... at 25yards I get 1" groups all day with the irons and resting my forarms on something (got a few groups that were even 1/2" ACROSS at that same distance with irons!)... Today I hope to get a scope for it, because it's accuracy demands it... .22Mags never recoiled that much more but mine is the "hunter" version that's 41+ounces heavy and the 22mags have a noticeably flatter trajectory, no guess work when using irons at 50 yards. One day I will get a revolver in .17HMR but don't know what brand though, I hear the SS in that caliber shoots as good as most rifles in that same caliber.
