Cleaner only (M-Pro 7, Hoppes Elite) or 3-in-1 (M-Pro 7 CLP, Weaponshield)

Based on some good info from a previous thread, I am leaning towards these cleaning products (all of which are non-toxic and odorless):
  • M-Pro 7 Gun Cleaner
  • Hoppes Elite Cleaner
  • Weaponshield
  • M-Pro 7 Clean, Lube, Protect

So, now I have another question. The first two products above are cleaners only and would need to be combined with some kind of oil/protectant. The bottom two are 3-in-1 solutions, but I really wonder if they can clean as well as the cleaner-only products.

So, if I ended up going with Weaponshield or M-Pro 7 CLP is that really all I would ever need to clean & maintain one of my weapons? Should I still plan to have a cleaning-only solution for my "deep cleaning" sessions? Or should I plan on using a two-stage clean-then-lube process every time I clean?

Soap and water is non-toxic. I use Dawn dishwashing detergent, hot water and a toothbrush for the inaccessible areas. Then dry with hair blower, and Rem Oil to protect.

No fumes, no odor (although I do like the #9). I wonder what Hoppe's #'s 1-8 smell like?

Gun Solvent Stinks! What do you use?

I know where you've been, and I see what you saw.
There is not one product that will do it all.
You're best off to pick something for every venue
and not be a slave to the cleaning menu
A car is a car and products are everywhere
don't use automotive products if you really care
Brake cleaner some will say is okay.......
if you care for your firearms, you'll look the other way
get a gun cleaning product no matter what they say
after all it is yours anyway
who can you trust when your gun starts to rust?
You...pick your product as you do what you must.
There's not one that will do it all, and if you think there is then the tales have been tall.
If you don't care for your guns, then that's the end of it all.
Your list lacks much as you'll see.....simply stated. you don't really care for your firearms like me.

WeaponShield is $22 or $24 for the large 16 OZ bottle.
$12 for the smaller bottle.
Call them up and get a sample bottle. That's only around $2 (I think)
After the first time you use it though you hardly need any for subsequent cleaning.
