Building a 1911 in 9mm ???

I am thinking of building a 1911 in 9mm. Would it be very hard too accomplish? What parts would I need? Thanks for any help.

Several manufacturers make 9mm 1911's, probably no need to build one yourself unless you want to. Parts should be available.

Build one from parts take a lot more time, patience and skill than a lot of people realize. Parts need to be fitted, and plan on spending more for the tools to do it right than you did for the gun.

With that said, I've seen a lot of home built 1911, and 18 out of 20 are pure junk. The components were good stuff t one time, and the owners think they did a great job...but parents always love their children even if they are ugly and stupid.

Slide, barrel, extractor, slide stop, and magazines and springs are all that should be different IIRC.

Buy a Rock Island .38 Super for ~$400 new and buy a Kart 9mm barrel and bushing, fit it (or have it fit). You have a low cost, reliable 9mm 1911.

Mine runs great. I have shot in USPSA and steel challenge.
