If money was no issue I'd have one just for the novelty of it. Guncrafter Industries seems pretty high speed.

Run a search in 'Guncrafters Industries'.
There was a thread on this exact subject in the spring toward the round, the GI 1911, and the new Glock specific top end conversion that was introduced as well which are not a lot of coin like their full build 1911. Within that thread I'd provided links toward the chamberings specific including power factors. - Janq

Already a .357 Sig fan, so as far as I want to go with unique rounds. At least Bass Pro & Wal-Mart carries the .357 Sig at a reasonable, make that less than crazy, price.
Maybe I'm wrong, but the .50 GI vs .50 AE is like the .45 GAP vs .45 ACP. The .45 GAP argument has a defined (at least LE) role (and backer in Glock). .50 GI does not really have a good role or more than a novelty backer. For the "good vs. bears" mania I would still choose the .44 Mag revolver. Perhaps the .50 GI for boss level zombie? The .50 GI does have a fan base, so I think it will be around. Then again, so many people and options, some pointless options out there just never die (no matter how big or small the round). But until you shoot a .50 GI (and I have not) you can't say those important words, "I shot the .50 GI and you know what I think..." I was told that the .50 GI is a more reliable feed than the .50 AE. Perked my interest but not my wallet. One other thought, I understand that 12.7mm .50 GI is bigger than the 10mm. With that said, the 10mm crowd might have a few more real world application to discuss than the .50 GI. Forget everything I said if you like the .50 GI. If you have the money, go blow away some stumps and stuff. |
