It is great all of you are now shooting IDPA and I applaud you

One thing: Please help paste, set steel, set up and tear down as much as you can. in your club. As a buddy of mine says"It is a club not an amusement park."

+1!

Added bonus of helping to set up at my club is that those who help set up shoot the match for free.

Learn to keep score and volunteer as scorekeeper. Always help paste. Being the only one pasting gets old real quick.

I was in the same mind frame as you were, practice like you carry. Any suggestions that could help things go smoother?

I had a great time on Sat and plan on going back.
A nice, properly cinched up, gun belt would do the trick. it would also make carrying the gun easier as it would be much more stable when moving.

I enlisted my 11-yr-old son as the "bucket holder" (carried the tape, papers, etc), and we all helped break down the stages afterwards. They also held a raffle beforehand and whoever's number was drawn got to shoot the match for free. I felt that was pretty cool!

Maybe once I get more familiar with it all, I can help out more; but it seemed like everyone pitched in during the match to pick up magazines, tape over targets, give advice, etc. A real friendly event.

Cheers! M2

No, it was not you. Nice to be able to put a face with an avatar (striking resemblance). I honestly do not remember your shooting, so you must not have done anything that struck me as odd - READ, out of the normal or poor choice in equipment. Now that I know you as a fellow DC member, I will pay a bit more attention, and offer any advice or suggestions that my limited experience can come up with. Other than getting some snap caps and practice drawing at home, you will get more ideas, info, and answers here on DC than I can give you.

Pretty much everyone in the new shooters group helped out in some capacity. Picking up brass, score keeping, reloading shooter mags, taping, replacing targets, and tear down.

Thanks man I am always looking to learn what I can to become a better shooter.

I just paid for the annual IDPA membership. Look forward to seeing you at the next match.
