An interesting side note: Those Tube Vault Storage Tubes are actually plastic Soda Pop bottle blanks before they are placed in a mold and pumped full of super heated air to expand and shape them. My daughter toured a Pepsi Plant when she was in grade school and they sent them all home with a clear and green 2 liter bottle blank. I thought they are way cool and great storage containers. I was frustrated I would never be able to get more of them unless I went and toured a bottling plant. The 2 liter bottle blanks are a bit longer than those at County Comm, so I'm guessing those are for like 1 liter or smaller bottles. They work great and now I'm glad I found a source for them. Will definitely pick up a couple extra next time I order there. Back to Gun Cleaning tools for nooks... I use dental pics, cotton applicators and pipe cleaners. For AR shooters, Cheaper Than Dirt sells 17" long pipe cleaners for cleaning out your gas tube! They are perfect for that. You can get them here.

Modified Toothbrush
Take an old toothbrush and file the back end square.
Then file about an inch up on both sides so they are flat. You will end up with what looks like a plastic screwdriver with a brush on the other end. I use paper towels instead of rags anymore and this little device with a single thickness of paper towel really gets into those slide rails. Takes just a few minutes to modify the toothbrush and will give you a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that you are recycling something that will last you many years. ....Skye.... |

Gun Scrubber, Aerosol Keyboard Cleaner, toothbrush, and I've been known to put tupperware in the dishwasher.

dental picks, q-tips, canned air, old tooth brush, homemade scraper, and then rinse with very hot water followed by rem oil.

Ultra-Sonics....
With a good solvent they are great for getting out almost any form of shooting residue or built up oils and associated crud. Blast with gun-scrubber, use the ultrasonic then blow out any fibers or junk that the sonic left behind... Spray with Eezox let it dry then give it a wipe down and you are set for just about anything.. |

Hmm. There's a LOT of good suggestions here. Thanks, all.
How much do some of these ultra-sonic systems cost? I've been looking at them but nobody lists prices. I'm really hoping its not like a Ferrari dealership where if you have to ask..

I will second (or maybe third) the Non-Chlorine parts cleaners (brake or carb), and dental picks. I probably have two dozen dental picks of varying sizes and shapes, and have used every one of them.

If you like dental picks, I prefer this polymer set. They will scrape away all but the hardest baked on carbon and will not damage the metal.
