Have a question for you Big Bore S&W folks
I really want to get a .460 MAG with a 5 inch barrel. The versitility with the rounds you can shoot is great ( .454 casull, 45 Colt ). But why do you think S&W put a muzzle brake on their 5 inch barrel and not a ported barrel. Does the muzzle brake really help with the felt recoil instead of a compensated ( Ported ) barrel on the .500 MAG. Would love to hear anyones opinion, thanks

I saw a TV special about firearms and the 500 was being fired by a not too hefty young guy. When he fired the 500 there was a lot of blast from the sides (as expected) and I was surprised to see very little muzzle flip. The barrel stayed almost level during recoil and he said that all he felt was a hard STRAIGHT BACK recoil..
S & W must have done something right. |

Keep you fingers away from the front of the cylinder near the forcing cone, one dipstick blew his finger off when gripping it in such a way his thumb was alongside the cylinder
