Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing that picture either....

And yes, when I first saw this thread I also thought it had to do with Lima....

To quote a friend (when a Hi-power spring flew across the room) "Houston, we have lift off."

I had that happen when I was taking my P229 apart. The spring actually sprung...magnets FTW though. Wouldn't have found it without it.

I dont have a mat, but a couple of those old speaker magnets come in real handy. It's only happened (hearing that sound) to me with my Rem 1100 and my old P229.The 1100 was real easy but the Sig, just a bad afternoon until I found the culprit and got it to the range to make sure I did it right.

A nut, bolt or screw is one thing. You can zero-in on those puppies, almost no matter how small.

But springs! You think you've got a hold on the little bugger, and then whooooosh! it goes, off into the distance.

Those faint whisps of metal sneak into the darnedest little holes. The bloody things are darned near silent once they've sprung. Only the first, faint "tink" is heard, and you hardly believe you've heard it in the direction you've turned. Invariably, it has successfully landed in utter silence and then scooted sideways a dozen feet to quietly sit in the shadow up against another impediment (such as a desk leg, a shoe, the edge of the carpet). Aaagghghgghghgh!

You know you've been slapped by the karma wheel when you've loosed a spring into the void. And you know you can't blame anyone else, this time. Not even the dog. Ain't it the truth.

Yeah, well. At least your dog would be trying to remedy things. Think of the poor sods out there with dogs that would look at you in a quizzical way, sort of like asking, "You went and did WHAAAAT?! What're ya looking at me for, bub?"

My story

Have to tell this one. On a busy day at the gunshop a guy brought in a Government .380 in pieces. He had disassembled it and wanted it put together. I told him it would either be an easy 5 minute fix or an hour long PITA. I had a lot of work on the bench but I gave it a quick try and couldn't get that sear, spring, ejector part right away and couldn't remember the trick. I told one of our sales people to tell him to leave the gun and it would be a while to fix it. For whatever reason he promptly sold it to her for $10(!) apparantly misunderstanding that it was not fixable or something. After holding it (and checking the serial # online, not stolen), the boss let me buy it for $15 bucks. A perk, since I don't work for a paycheck, is he throws me deals like that sometimes.

Beat that.

We actually lost a good customer once when somebody in the shop sent an irreplaceable part into the depths of the 9th dimension where gun parts and unmatched socks go. He was quite irate and we couldn't get a replacement part.

And you all do have this guy's page bookmarked, right? And please send along any manuals you may have.
