Gun Cleaners Etc.

First off I appologize if this is posted in the wrong section wasn't sure where to go for this.
I recently bought my first gun and was wondering if you could suggest a spray cleaner to use?
I have read about "Break Free" and products like that...are they good to use?
If not, Why? And some are dry lube is that OK ?
Thanks for your help.

Check out KG-12, Sharpshooter Wipeout (foam). Use cleaning jags, not slotted tips, for barrel cleaning. Brake cleaner works great for blasting out gunk, but you have to reapply lube.

Here's something I've been testing. So far, I'm impressed with it. It's replaced four products I'd normally use on my pistols.

I use Break Free CLP for nearly all cleaning/lubing on all of my guns. If there is noticeable lead or copper fouling I will use a product specifically made for that use. Otherwise, a bit of Hoppes gun grease on the rails of my semi-auto pistols is about the only additional product needed.

CLP is a great multi-purpose product!

Be sure to carefully read the instructions on any product you decide on. Some can damage a finish on plastic or metal.

I'll second the use of Gunzilla.
An odd name for the product but bottom line it works...and isn't harmful to your skin nor will it funk you out of your home.

IMHO Breakfree CLP is the best all around product that there is. I started using in the Marines 20 yrs ago and have used it ever since. I have yet to have a firearm develop rust or any lubrication related problem.

The only other thing I use is Hoppe's #9 solvent for occasional bore cleaning. Breakfree will work for that too, I just get nostalgic every once in a while and yearn for the smell of Hoppe's.

I use Weapon Shield. Very good stuff! I thought I read somewhere that it's made by the guy who invented Break Free.
