Agreed David, I too like and support choice.
As noted by others I simply choose not to join clubs who require NRA membership and/or will penalize me for not having chosen to support them. As to support being an NRA member and having written a check for $10 per year or a grand a lifetime ago does not necessarily make one an 'active' 2A supporter. I personally choose not to support the NRA with my monies for specific and personal reasons but I have no qualm with anyone else choosing to do so. In kind I'd expect that others would have no qualm with me for not being an NRA member. Oh and as to gun owners voting as a single block which someone else brought up that would not occur as very many people are not single item voters. Further there are more _voting_ non gun owning/supporting voters than there are gun owners, who do vote. So if they all joined the Brady Campaign and voted against us/the NRA they would as a 'block' win every time. But again as we well know from past experience not all people can be depended upon to vote for a single issue ignoring all other matters of importance...much less to even register and get their lazy butts to the polls. - Janq

I don't think so but that is just me. NRA does some great things but not everyone wants to be connected with large Lobbying groups. find it tough to force membership when all you may be looking for is somewhere to shoot when you don't have your own place. It would turn me off from the club. However I am forced to be an IDPA member to shoot at the matches at the club I belong to and I went on and did this. In general though I do not care for groups telling me what I have to be a part of or pay extra fees on top of your membership. IMHO

I was a member of Crosscreek Longrifles in Fayetteville NC when I was stationed there and they required NRA membership. It helped with the insurance and I think it's good for the club. Of course I've been a life member since 1983.
