Has she considered a .380 until she has some more range time in? A .380 she practices with and carries beats a heavier pistol in the safe. Or if she likes the G19 other than recoil, load down ammo for practice so it doesn't beat her up. A spare guide rod and spring are cheap and easy to swap out for carry.
To a lightly built person firing a full power pistol can feel like shooting a 454 Casull does to the rest of us. |

Hey here is a great idea in my opinion:
Keep buying and trying guns until you find the exact one she wants. As a benefit, your collection will have grown! Heck, I may try this myself with my wife! ![]() Just kidding. The perfect gun is out there. It is just a matter of keeping after it and trying various models. |

Picky is good if you don't want to have to buy a string of guns before she finds the one that fits just right.
My two current favorites are a .45 Colt Defender, and a 9mm S&W M&P If she likes a 1911 Frame, you might consider a 9mm. The weight of the gun significantly reduces the amount of recoil. Put a set of thinline grips and you'll have a really nice option!! My husband built himself a government sized one and it's really nice to shoot, minimal recoil and accruate (but too big to consider for every day carry). I have a commander size on my wish list!

You can't pick it for her, but you may try leading her along the pistol trek.
![]() Led my wife to the Glock-26...it's growing on her. I refer to it as her gun...I think its working. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

My wife's favorite is a S&W model 67 (.38 K frame) revolver. Lots of women lack sufficient grip strength to operate the slide on a semiauto effectively.
