Auto Ordinance 1911's?
I have a chance to buy a used (according to the owner around 75 rounds fired through it) Auto Ordinance GI 1911 for under $250 from a friend of a friend. Who knows anything about these pistols, I understand that they are made by Kahr now. I already have a Springfield GI 1911 to fill that niche, but it seems like a pretty good deal, and in the future I could use the frame to build it into whatever I want. Any opinions?

Tell you what, if you don't want it I'll buy it. At that price you should be able to buy it, play with it, and sell it without a loss if you don't end up liking it.
Seriously, I'd love to go for that if you're not interested, shipping & FFL on me... |

Still not worth it. They're junk, pure and simple. The small parts are poorly fit and low quality, the frame isn't that great either. If you want to build a gun from the frame up, then buy a quality frame.

Post Kahr NN, at least that is what I was told. I still have to take a look at it and see exactly what condition it is in, as I was just told about it today and won't be in the area its being sold for a couple days.
Dnowell, I'll keep that in mind after I check it out.

If it is truly an Auto Ordnance ( pre Kahr ) there were some problems with fit and finish.
Having said that...I own a Auto Ordnance (Kahr) PKZSE ...a WWII parkerized 1911a1 replica with a 5" barrel, overall length of 8.5", weighing in at 39 ozs unloaded. Sights are rudimentary with a blade front and rear windage adjustable. Mine came in a plastic lockable carry case with one 7 round magazine...price at the PA NG Armory gun show a year ago was $425 out the door...and before I left I bought another nine 7 round GI magazines at $7.00 a pop. Don't care what others say...it's a damn good GI 45 that functions like it should and hurls lead where I point it. Don't know if ya saw the movie "Last Man Standing" with Bruce Willis... but it looks like the twin 45's he used and when I roll up to the range with 10 magazines loaded, I know I'm in for a blast of a time!!For $250...if ya don't want it...tell the guy I'll take it off his hands !! Here's a pic: I also own a Auto Ordnance 1927a1 Tommy Gun...$850 OTD
