Got any safe queens?

Guy posted this question on THR - wondered how we might see the question here. This would apply to guns you like of course but which see little or no real action ...... ones you have maybe ''just because''! (Talking mainly handguns really tho if I included longarms, several of my mil-surps only see the occasional outing.)

Mine is probably my first Rohrbaugh R9 - it is now replaced with #2 which is what gets some carry/BUG duty.

The first one is a very early Farmingdale with silver frame, and is also marked R9s - that having now been dropped. Quite early SN too and the blue CF grip panels. I used that to test ammo but it is now ''retired'' to live in the dark.

My CZ-52 only gets rare outings even tho I have ammo and could even reload for it. My Webley MkVI is also pretty ''safe-bound'' tho do have some ammo loaded. It is fun to shoot but I choose to preserve it pretty much.

There are a few others that only get occasional excercize but in effect every gun in there is a shooter.

So far the only two I have that meet that descriptor are nothing special to anyone but me.

The first is my Marlin Model 60 - just haven't shot it in a while. I find the 10/22 much easier to clean for some strange reason. But the Marlin is my first gun and I will never part with it.

The second is Dad's Ruger P85. I can't bring myself to fire it.

One day Euc - do it - preferably with a buddy there so it is not too painful.

Instead shoot it and let that be a celebration of a dear man - a metaphorical 21 gun salute if you will. You only have to imagine him there watching, and beaming with satisfaction

I only have 2 firearms that never leave the safe (except for viewing and cleaning):

An M1 Garand from the CMP with a Springfield receiver made in Feb. 1943 and the original barrel (Mar 1943), lockbar sights, uncut -9 op-rod, and stock with faded cartouche. I'm guessing that it was rebuilt at the end of WWII and didn't see service after that. It probably isn't worth any extra and could be used for a shooter, but I've got several other M1's that do get shot on a regular basis.

Also have a 1907 Savage pistol in excellent condition.

I don't believe in safe queens.
If I own it I shoot it.
And I shoot it as much as I can.

My only safe queen is my Sig P220 ST Langdon Edition. Only put 50 rounds through it and it is sweet but it's more of an "investment gun" than a daily carry or range gun. My next gun might be a Sig P220 ST for carry.

I have 2!

One, I WON'T shoot, and one I CAN'T shoot!

The WON'T shoot is my Dad's Iver Johnson Sealed 8 .22 revolver. He varried that thing one every fishing trip I can remember as his "viper gun". I lost my Dad just 2 years ago, and still get a little choked up every time I see this old revolver.

The CAN'T shoot belonged to my great-grandfather. It's a Stevens No. 44 Ideal (in very nice condition), but it's a little difficult to find ammo for. Anybody have a box of .25 Stevens Rimfire laying around?
