Dan Wesson PM-9 Range Report
My much anticipated Dan Wesson PM-9 arrived a few days ago and I finally had an opportunity to test it at the local range.
The mag’s I used consisted of two OE 9-round magazines, which were supplied with the pistol and manufactured by Checkmate Industries, and three aftermarket 10-round Tripp Research Cobra magazines with base pads. Prior to my range visit I disassembled, cleaned and lubed the pistol. I normally use BF CLP on most of my pistols for lubrication however, like my CBOB, the slide/frame fit were somewhat tight, so I decided to use a little of Brian Enos’s Slide-Glide on the rails during reassembly. There have been a few owner reported finish issues posted in other forums regarding small burrs found on the underside of the dust cover, which cause friction scratches on the bead blasted area as the slide cycles on the frame. During disassembly I inspected this area and there were no apparent issues. The finish looked very good on this pistol. During the shooting session I put 200 rounds of assorted 115 grain FMJ through the pistol and there were absolutely no issues with the pistol or magazines. Everything functioned correctly, recoil was minimal given the weight of the pistol and the sights were easy to see and right on out of the box. Regrettably, the pistol is more accurate than I am however that gives me something to work on during future range sessions. She’s definitely a keeper! :) ![]() |

Nice pistol, and great picture, you just need some holes in that paper, then it would be perfect.

Nice looking gun. CZ/Dan Wesson makes some great guns. Wish they'd bring the CBOB out in .40 cal. I'd be on it in a heartbeat.

Thanks folks. On this first trip my primary focus was on reliability and function. Next time out, I’ll concentrate on accuracy.

I shot my new pm-9 this weekend too, although I didn't first clean it. I went through 100 rounds, friends of mine who stopped-by shot around 75. Very sweet, flawless shooter. The new "Evil Roy" metal target I used also served very well. And I discovered that a Comp-Tac holster made for a "flat-top slide" 1911 worked great for the pm-9.
