I, for one, would love to go to training classes (besides the bare minimum gun safety class). But as a fluffy middle-ager, I don't think I could keep up. Therefore I don't go. Therefore I have to deal with not being as trained as I would like.
Speaking as an instructor, I have many times watched over a shaky old guy or a fragile old lady in firearms training classes. Fluffy middle aged people of both sexes are even more common. You won't be out of place, and if the instructor is worth his salt you won't slow the class down.

There's this perception out there that professional firearms classes are filled with SWAT cops and high-end military specialists. Not so! Those guys have their own dedicated classes and for the most part that's where they stay (there are exceptions, enthusiastic professionals who get additional training on their own time and on their own dime -- but for the most part, that's not who fills such classes).

Once you brush away the spec ops guys and the SWAT cops, who's left? Us! Middle aged people who have lived long enough to be realistic about life and who have the disposable income to afford a good class. Attorneys, plumbers, housewives, contractors, bankers ... you name it. A few cops, usually men and women who are just getting into law enforcement and want to be prepared. But mostly it's just people.

You are not alone in your thought process.

That is exactly the reason why we have new shooters or people that feel like they need more training attend a different range than the rest of the class.

In the "begginers class"...
the instructor to student ratio is one to two. There is no time limit, no pressure. We are commited to making sure that you feel 100 percent confident of your ability to safely conceal a gun before you leave...even if we have to stay with you until midnight.

When you are done...
you will be able to shoot the center out of the target ,
safely handle a gun and manipulate it without endangering everyone within a 2 mile radius,
you will have the answers to any question that you may have,
and you will understand that this is the beggining of training, not the end of it.

We have had nothing but success so far.

I believe people are very worried about the country, and if rule of law breaks down, and this great land of ours could turn into mob rule with the mob at your door. I believe that ladies since this possible coming trouble more that men. In the pasted they have been seen as the week link that needed to be defended. Today many women are the strongest ink in the defense of their homes, children, and men.

Pray that rule of law remains in force, but if it does not the armed woman protecting her home children and man will be a force for any intruder to deal with. The intruder who gets between mommy and the children will pay a sever price at the loving well armed and trained hands of mommy.
