Two older .38's
Was in my favorite pawnshop today.
Saw what was labeled as a a "Colt DA38", and a S&W M10-4. Colt was $250, S&W was $210. Both has finishes in the 90-95% range. I almost bought the Smith, except I prefer Rugers and 357s. Might go back based on the comments given here, if any.

I would have offered him $425 out the door for both.

Leaving aside apparent condition - re appearance - main thing would be mechanicals. Timing, lock-up, crane truth, forcing cone condition etc, etc.
If mechanicals proved OK then either or both would be nice to have and HV's idea of an offer for both sounds worth a try.

The S&W M-10 is of recent manufacture and barring abuse or neglect, should be safe to shoot. The Colt DA 38 marking indicates an older model, possibly an 1895 New Navy model. That one might be more of a collector than a shooter. Be sure to get a three day right of inspection and have a gunsmith check them out before shooting them if any doubt.
