Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

I have a Victorinox Swisscard pocket office that goes with me everywhere at work. One day, I had to appear as a subject matter expert at the courthouse. I rarely go to the courthouse and forgot about the searches. I had to take my pager outside and hide it somewhere while I was in the courthouse. Their metal detector went off, and they wanted to know what was in my shirt pocket. I pulled out the little blue card, with the SA logo, and said "It's my pocket office." I showed them the ball point pen. They waved me through, having missed the 4cm fixed blade.

I want one with the little scissors, USB thumb drive, and the little ball point.

I have a few mini knives and 1 larger multi item swiss knife. I put em away for good when I got my leatherman. Since then have moved to the Gerber multi tool.

I have the Vic that has the clock in the side. I could never get it set right, but it has all those accessories that makes it cool. I have mine set aside for my new bug out bag/survival bag project that is slowly taking shape. It has the saw and the scissors and all that good stuff.

And it's not red, it is sort of gray, which is sort of strange in a swiss army knife.

Common- if we are talking about using these for BASIC SURVIVAL, how can you expect to survive without a good cigar?

I always thought cigar cutters looked good for cutting off fingers, too, in case you ever need to cut off a finger.

Good point, survival and self defense...probably not the place to offer circumcision services, too, eh?!?!??!

(If this mildly off color joke offends anyone, I will remove it)

I've always kept several around the RV, car, and sailing bag--usually anywhere other than my pocket. The Tinker will go down as one of the keystones of western civilization.

Mmmmm, I love those knives. I had a Champ once.....a really nice older neighbor gave it to me. I loved it....I still kick myself for losing track of it. Most recently I had a Recruit, and somehow that too got lost. I really need to get another one.....my Gerber is much sturdier and more versatile, but overkill 99.1% of the time and not as nice to behold or carry.
