Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

The ''sock''!!

Never used this myself in anger - but an old buddy did once - in UK - heck, he had few other options in that hell hole of zero self defence! It supposedly had ''significant'' deterrant effect - that's all I recall.

Longish sock - fill with a good handful of loose change. Whirl about head and swing at BG - whack - ouch!! Sounds to me potentially effective - plus I guess you'd say easy to conceal.

But - any thoughts? Effective? I rather think it could be.

If a BG dies as the result of pointing a gun at me, then he has merely succumbed to an occupational hazard of being a thug

Soap bar in the sock worked well in boot camp... That was the "Old Corps" though. :)

I would be afraid if there was to much coinige to get a good weight it would split the sock at the toe seam.. now maybe 3-4 rolls of quaters in it might hold up but i dont ... The old bar of soap sound like a winner though one solid item and thats it

That must be considered to be heavy weaponry in the UK where folks can't carry at all.
They will probably ban socks there next.
I would think that a solid, heavy, "walking stick" would be a bit more effective & versatile.
That reminds me of the old "FLAT SAP"
The leather filled with powdered lead or bird shot that LEOs and mobsters usta carry...way back when.

9/11

Sock and a bar of soap is where it's at. Also great option for an airplane. No security is going to prevent a person from carrying a bar of soap in their carry on especially if its in a shower bag or something. If someone would have had one of those rigs on the 9/11 planes I think the outcome could have been different. Also along the same lines a western belt with a large beltbuckle is always worn by myself and is plane worthy. I'm no Bruce Lee but if I connect with this belt and buckly whoever I'm aiming at is going to be hurting.

try paracord on the keychain. It not only hits hard, but lacerates.

Paracord? I have a monkey's fist knot I made wrapped around a marble, and it's attached to my keychain. I guess you could clobber people with either end.

My wacky brother whacks his buddies in the buttocks with his monkey's fist.

[gasp...wretch...ralph]paracord[/gasp...wretch...ralph]

You guys bought stock in some third world thread factory and didn't tell the old Gumba, didn't ya?

'Scuse me, will you. I have to leave now. Me and the 101st are having our nails done. Then we're going to wrap my trailor hitch in paracord for that 'mercenary look' the chicks really crave.
