Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Finally scored a BM Skirmish (pic)

I bought my Dad a Skirmish for his last B-Day and he returned the favor for me last month. It's a big knife and probably not for everyone, but I love the way it feels it my hand. It's become my go to back-up to my G30 when I'm out walking my dogs are night.

The Skirmish looks like a nice knife. I like the blade shape. I am more of a Spyderco fan as I see you like them also. Your Military looks nice! I have the smaller Para Military and like it a lot.

nice collection of blades my friend!

that skirmish does look like the type of thing i'd be willing to carry as a backup on a dark night...

Neil Blackwood is known for his huge blade designs and the Skirmish is no exception. I had the pleasure of meeting him in Atlanta at the BLADE Show shortly after he and Benchmade being collaborating, he's a good guy ... big fella too!

If you want that same toughness in something a wee bit smaller you might try a Mini-Skirmish, I think the blade on that one's in the neighborhood of 3.25". Gotta love those framelocks, it's become my favorite locking mechanism after using my 750 Pinnacle daily for the last several years.

For those who have not handled one, you would be very surprised how light it is for a big folder.

I've carried one for a short time, it's a good design and fairly rugged knife with better than fair solid lock for a frame lock.
