Hi Steve, I have one suggestion for you. I have the Sharpmaker and I like it a lot. For quite a while I used it and was kind of disappointed as I could not get the edge I desired. I thought that I was holding the blade straight up and down, but then I put a mirror behind the sharpmaker so that I could really see how I was holding the blade. I was not holding it straight up and down. This fixed a lot and the edge is coming along very nicely!!

i use a lansky quick fix, works great on knives up to 6 inches. sharpens and polishes blade.its also only about $5.00 at academy
