Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry concealed also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

congrats on your benchmade.
The best benchmade to get is the American made benchmade. I have had my griptillion about 6 years now. It just doesn't get any better. A american benchmade (full sized folder)will set you back about 3 times what you spent, and comes in a blue box, I believe. Not sure though.

The Mini Grips are great little knives. The price you paid is about right for that model, it's buying direct from the factory that'll empty your wallet.

there are 3 different boxes for Benchmade. Blue or Red is either japanese or american produced. The black boxes are law enforcement, switchblades, etc.
Anyhoo....not pointing out that you have an "inferior" knife by any means. Just thought you'd like to know.

Blue box is the original, American made line. Model numbers are 3 digits long: 710, 550, 551, etc. The newer Asian line is the red box, made in Tiawan & model numbers are 5 digits long. Black boxes are the "tactical" line, made in the US, and are either 3 digits (for manual openers) like the 806, or 4 digits (autos) like the 9100, 9150, etc.

Yeh, I've spent a lot of money on Benchmades over the years - even met Les De Asis and a few designers/makers at the 2003 BLADE (Neil Blackwood, Mel Pardue, Jerry Hossom, Pat Crawford, etc). I'm a knife knut from way back.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy it? That seems like a pretty good price.

Source of purchase

www.gunbroker.com

seemes like lots of items on auction there but not that much bidding? Maybe just the time of year? hunting season weekend etc? what do you people know about it? buy much on there or just use it as a pricing resource?

In any case I sent my check off today hope to have my new knife in my greedy hands in a week or less

Very nice knife. I've got seven different Benchmades five of them auto's. You can't go wrong with the quality. I'm only a couple of miles from the factory, so I like to go into their show room every once in a while and look around.
