| Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver. |

I like a Spiderco Delica. Don't bother with serrated edges (hard to sharpen), metal grips (slippery when wet), >3" (tough to stab and pull a long knife through meat), thumb stud (can be difficult to index in a hurry).
Get one with a good locking system (frame lock), simple drop point design, pocket clip that can be repositioned for left or right side, high (belt) or low (edge of pocket) carry. |

My daily carry is a simple 3" CRKT BULL: http://www.crkt.com/bull.html
Not the most tacticool, but you can get one for $30 (25 if you look around) and it does everything I've ever needed it to. Easy to open, and plenty sharp. The next folder I buy will probably be the Kershaw Ken Onion Assisted Opener, which looks and feels wonderful. |

Ditto.

CRKT Buck Spyderco SOG Victorinex Also, there are a lot of great knives in the $20-$50 range marketed under popular names such as Gerber, Smith & Wesson, and Browning. I have never worn any of my knives out, because I lose them first anyway. If you want name dropper or vanity knives you can go way above $100. However, I find little difference in performance. |

I carry an Emerson Mini Commander that I got on ebay for under $100. The WAVE feature makes it a great carry knife that beats all others in rapid deployment.
