Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

That is pretty much what I was thinking. I would perfer any of my weapons be concealed, but I would not rule anything out as long as it, such as a cane would blend in well enough. The more options the better.
On a recient trip to the great socialist city of Chicago I felt pretty naked as I was without my pistol and to be legal in that city I was down to a <2.5 inch knife.
BTW I recognized the area of the city on Michigan Ave I visited when I was watching the news report a few days later on the three people shot there. It is amazing how well the gun and knife laws work in Chicago, for the criminals.

Most criminals go for the appearance of an easy target, right? Just because you have a limp doesnt mean that you are incapable of taking that thick cane or walking stick and doing some damage.

Where an open carry of a firearm might draw attention and trouble, I think that carrying a big stick has an opposite affect in most situations. Would any of us cause problems with a guy carrying a Louisville slugger anymore than a heavy walking stick or cane. Probaly not. I think it is more of a deterrent than anything, IMHO. Isn't that what we want anyway? To avoid conflict but to be prepared for it if unavoidable!?

And for those who are concerned with fashion, I think the gentlemens cane is making a come back. What fun! Openly carry a weapon and look fashionable doing it.

Hope some of you can pull this one off. I'm to young to need one and haven't had to do black tie events yet.
