Defensive Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry a gun also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Transporting knife aboard airplane

I will be traveling up to CT to visit family for the holidays. Since my FL permit doesn't reciprocate, I want to at least bring my knife. I just picked up a Kershaw Leek. What are the latest rules/laws so I can have my blade up in CT without any problems?

Put it in checked baggage and you'll be fine.

Leave it in your checked luggage. Don't try to bring it on the plane!

Here is a link to the TSA's website of items prohibited, allowed and how they can be taken (either via carry-on or checked).

Hope this helps.

I believe his question was the legality of carry in CT, not legality of plane carry...OMO

Both aboard the airplane and while in CT. I'm not sure what the knife laws are up there but I don't think the leek would be a problem. Nobody would ever see it anyway.

Thanks for all the replies, and Lima for the link!
