Knives & Other Weapons Most people that concealed carry also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Have you found your knife yet? Here's another one... Kershaw Junkyard Dog. The stainless model is less expensive than the G-10 version. It is thin, ergonomic and fast, flipper opening.

+1 on any kershaw assisted open == they are great! I have 2 Leeks that I bought for under $40 each and they are quick, easy and effective!

Has anyone taken their knives to people-like mediums (cheap ribs and steaks)? It's a learning experience, for sure, actually having something to cut and stab into, and you'll really learn about the integrity of the locking mechanism.

I have the Spyderco Endura wave and i love it. I dont leave home without it. I also had a Kershaw Assisted open but the blade started rusting. Kershaw was amazing about the customer service but shortly after i lost it. I needed a replacment so i invested in a endura wave. Never looked back

A used Spyderco Military or a used Benchmade Mini Dejavoo.

Stay away from liner-locks unless it's a CRKT with the auto-LAWKS feature.
i just won the bidding on a spyderco endura w/wave.
it came in the mail today. i didn't know there was such a knife until kenpotex mentioned it. i really like this knife a lot, its a great idea(the wave). they wont break the bank and they are very sturdy.

Good choice, I'm sure it'll serve you well.

There are so many decent choices out there it is hard to say just one. However, personally, I like folders with a thumb knob on them for speed of opening. I do like spring assisted ones as well. The knife should hold a good edge as well as open up easily with one flick of the wrist. Your carry knife should only be used for self-defense purposes. It is a tool. If you want to use a knife for daily tasks, then get a knife JUST for that.
