Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry concealed also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Does anyone have any experience with using pepper spray on vicious dogs?

I have no personal experience using OC against a dog. However, I have a close friend who is an animal-control officer who goes through a can about every 1-2 weeks. Basically, his experience has been that it works okay on a "mean" dog (one that will bite you because it's territorial, or scared, etc.) but not on a "vicious" dog (one that is actually attacking with intent).

when i have used it, 3 times, its worked great.
The last time i had my minature pincher in leash and an big 9 year old german shepard came that have bit my dog ones before so i had to drop the leash and confront the GS and grabed his collar and the dog freaked out and started biting my arm and then took a grip around it and wouldent let go, and started to bite harder and harder until i get my hands on my oc, then i just sprayed it ones over the nose and in in one eye and it stoped directly and let go of my arm and just totaly gave up with everything that have with fight to do..
I also have a anti-hund* spray with 0,5% CN, 0,5% CS, 78% acheton and 21% buthan that should work good on dogs.
The CN is mutch more potent than CS on dogs, but OC is the best.

In the old days when I delivered papers on a bike , I used ammonia mixed with water in a squirt gun . All it took was being sprayed 1 time and they would run when they saw me coming .

I have heard/read that OC spray is not as effective on dogs as people. I have wondered if the foam might me more effective since it would get into their nose, eyes, and mouths and stay.
Any experience with foam?

Thanks,
Jerry

Mace

I believe the Mace brand and the others labeled specifically for dog use are actually made of a lower concentration of OC than the ones made for use on people. I like the MSI Mace brand (especially the foam and the triple action spray) because I like the containers, easy to use under stress and safe to carry. The Mailman in my neighborhood (who carries some ".000001% dog spray" OC "junk" according to him) says if a dog can smell 500% better than a person, and a dog doesn't smoke crack and drink alcohol, it should work even better than on a man.

He's a pretty cool mailman. Don't know if he's an OC expert, though.

For protection against vicious dogs, I have my wife carry our pit bull. Nice as all get out to people, but hell on other animals. It's small enough she can control the dog, too. Greatest dog man ever invented. ;)
