Knives & Other Weapons Most people that carry concealed also carry a knife or other weapon as a backup. Finding a good blade is often harder than finding a good pistol or revolver.

Maryland Knife Laws - ? for pending trip

I'm heading to Maryland for some training in a couple days. Anyone from over there or familiar with the area that can direct me to the appropriate knife laws?

I've poked around other sites... mostly I'm looking to see if the information D.C. users provides me meshes with/confirms what I've been hearing and reading.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I will be without my firearm for the duration.

Thanks!

My best source at this time is here:
http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/md.txt

Seems between the way I read the code and the example cases, my unassisted folder is fine, and so is my OC spray.

It depends where you are going to be in the state. You might need to check local ordinances as well. The city of Gaithersburg for example does not allow any kind of knife to be carried. I don't know about chemical agents but stun guns that are legal in most of the state are illegal in the city of Baltimore.
They don't exactly make it easy to find answers.

This is a good resource. Be aware though that individual municipalities may have more restrictive laws than that of the State....

Thanks guys. I'll be in Baltimore and its surrounds. I've got a call into Baltimore PD and a couple of the smaller cities already answered my questions. It sounds like cities can be more restrictive than the state (no preemption) but so far I haven't discovered one that is (at least not one where I'm going).
