Yeah I called them and it is $70 to rent a firearm for 1/2 hour!
Doesn't really matter if its indoor or out, my roommate and I just want to go shooting, so it needs to have a gun rental available (I didn't bring any of my firearms out here, and CCWing out here? Whats that? Can't even carry to the movie theatre by me.. )

Maryland Small Arms Range down by Andrews AFB. I think they are on Dowerhouse Road. It's about 5 minutes outside the DC beltway off Rt 4. Last time I was there it was like $10/hr to shoot and about the same to rent.

I can't imagine that's even close to true for the rental of the gun. Maybe you're figuring in the cost of the ammunition and range time as well?

I think that they only charge like $10 for the rental and you can switch it out as often as you like for another gun. It's a bit of a PITA because you have to use their ammo.

Knight, are you sure that you did not misheard them... 70 bucks seems really steep? I used to shoot at On Target; IIRC the gun rental was under 10 bucks. this was a few years back and maybe they changed their rates. The place was fairly reasonable when I was using their facilities.

It's $10 a hour at On Target to rent any gun. You can also make exchanges without restarting the clock. You must also use there ammo, which can cost you a little more, but not unreasonable. I'm a member there so I don't pay for my range time, but I spent a good hour and a half with a M&P, FNP-9, PT24/7 Pro just last week... ammo included it only cost me $40

What's their membership fee like?

$200 per year for civilians, AD and Retired Military is $175. $25 discount for family members, and $25 off for renewals. For that you get unlimited range time, you can have guest shoot on the same lane for half the normal price, and once a year (around November) they have a huge "Members only" sale to clear out old stock, which I hear can net you some real savings, but I only started my membership this spring.

Wile On Target does have a large selection of handguns, a few AR-15's and HD style shotguns, they aren't perfect. They will not order parts, will not conduct transfers, and will not ship firearms for there customers.

So wile it's not "Full Service" the staff has a fair amount of knowledge, and is generally friendly. Since I got to the range there at least once every other week, I have paid for my membership many times over.

OUCH! Even as retired military my AGC membership is cheaper by $25, and my wife can fire on the same point for nothing. (And my club, because our range was shut down pays $50 toward my AGC fee.)
