Seeking Missouri CCW information

This isn't for me but for an aunt. She lives in the bootheel of Missouri (think around Dexter, Bernie, Kennett) and wants to get started on her CCW license.

I have no idea if Missouri is a shall issue state or not. I'm looking for an instructor contact and other pertinent information.

They can answer all your questions. Missouri is a shall issue state for the most part.
Also look here in the Missouri section

Instructor in Jackson

I am from Bloomfield (5 mi north of Dexter) I took my class from a great instructor in Jackson. Info for him can be found at www.pointblanktraining.net

Chris is a great instructor, and a very knowledgeable person. I recommend him highly.

If she is in Stoddard County like I am, Sheriff Carl Hefner is very gun-friendly. Permit to Acquire handgun takes about 10 minutes and is $5. CCW takes about 30 days and costs $38 for FBI Check and 60 for permit. Missouri is Shall-issue.

rn,
You got off cheaper than I did. I'm up here in Jeff. County and it was slightly higher. Glad to see St. Louis and St. Louis County finally joining the fold.
Shoot safe. I took my training in Columbia, Mo.

She's actually in New Madrid County but Dexter is very close by. I will peruse those links more carefully later. I will provide her with a print out.

I have a member of the family who will take her out and give her a refresher on basic marksmanship. I will see her this Saturday, and refresh her on gun safety, show her how to work her pistol, how to maintain her pistol, and basically work our way up to tap rack bang. She's not a new shooter but she hasn't owned a gun in 5 years and I'm sure she's rusty.

You guys rock. That's exactly what I was needing to know.

County of Residence

She will have to apply for CCW and/or PTA in her county of residence, but I understand that New Madrid county Sheriff is gun-friendly also.

Good to see you taking an interest in her shooting. Wish everyone would take the time to educate others.

Well krang that's one thing that's satisfying about educating yourself. You can then help others.

The best part is I got lots of folks to chip in, and she doesn't know it yet, but her starting equipment is paid for! The gun, the spare magazine, some Gold Dots, holster, cleaning equipment, a good light, everything you need to get started. She can use her money she was going to spend on the gun on classes and fees instead.

If nothing else this little project has been my entertainment for the past 5 months, and I think the world of the Bersa Thunder 380 for its price.

One more question for you guys. Should I make sure she can handle a revolver too? It looks like it's a requirement.

Seeking Missouri CCW information

Euclidean,
The Mo. CCW course requires firing both a revolver and semiautomatic during a 50 rd. practice session. For the 20 rd. test for qualification the student can use either or both.
The target used is a B-27 silhouette (about 2 ft. wide x 4 ft. high) at a distance of 21 ft.
To pass the student must get fifteen hits anywhere on the silhouette out of 20 rds. fired (no time limit).
