I am in the Lynchburg area and sometimes have to suck up the ride to Roanoke. Usually we will go after going to Roanoke firemarms or one of the shows.

I need a place that lets you shoot your own ammo, or maybe someone with a lot of land. I've got some test loads and need to try them out before I start bulk loading.

At Straight Shooters you can shoot your own ammo , but it cost you $5 more for the range fee . Call first , it's been a while sense I've been there .

Juggernaut, I'm with you. Tired of getting raped on range ammo. I would prefer to shoot outdoors now that the weather is getting nice. Sure do miss living in Oklahoma. If I wanted to shoot just drove out into the country and shot!

Until 2006, Chickahominy had a really good range for pistol shooting (considering it was free) but the CommunistWealth put the kibosh on all pistol shooting at state ranges, stating the original intent of the ranges was no longer being met, i.e., for sighting hunting firearms. That and vandalism and people weren't picking up their brass (except for the "treasur hunters" picking up the brass for reloading and selling at gunshows. Shoot, the state could pay for somebody to clean it up once a day for the money they could make from picking up the brass.

The Smoking Gun (formerly Straight Shooters) in Colonial Heights allows that. $20 to shoot with their ammo, $10 extra to shoot your own tho. I brought four boxes, at $13 each, decided to go with their stuff to save a bit, $15 a box for .38 specials.
