Welcome to the general neighborhood. Double action is great, but that's quite a hike for you. I've heard nothing but good about Top Gun in Taylor, but I've never been there myself. It's still a ways from you, but it's the best I can do. If you want to learn to fly, though, I can say that it'd be worth the drive to Kitze Aviation at Canton-Plymouth Mettetal.

Top Gun is a decent place, haven't been there in a while though.

Hey welcome to Ann Arbor. Feel free to pm/email if I you need any info.

I go to Wolverine Shooting Sports in Brownstown for indoor shooting. It's about 30-35 mins east of Ann Arbor. I go mostly in the winter. Nice guys, good rates. The store is not as well stocked as some but they do allow rapid fire within reason and rifles in any of the lanes (25 yds).

As mentioned Top Gun in Taylor seems nice, visited the store but not shot there. Also popular in the area and usually busier is Firing Line in Westland. Also about 30-35 mins east of Ann Arbor.

For the rest of the year and in good weather I usually go to the Sharonville range in Grass Lake. It's run by the Dept of Natural Resources and is also 30-35 mins but west of Ann Arbor.

Also if you like to shoot in competition, Tri County Sportsmans League is closeby in Saline, about 15-20 mins. They let non members shoot in IDPA. It's one Saturday a month and I think on Mondays after 6p they let people practice for IDPA too.

Hope that helps.

Just pokin' WAR; Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions. Hate the pistons.

I highly recommend Firing Line in Westland (not too far of a drive from you)
Firing Line Indoor Gun Range and Gun Shop

or you could try Firearm Exhange in Livonia, between Merriman and Middlebelt on the south-side of 96.
Firearm Exchange

wow...thanks guys (and gals). i went to the firing line in westland...wasn't impressed. the staff didn't seem to care that i was about to drop some serious cash there (was looking at buying a gun there too). in fact, didn't even get so much as a "hello" until it was time for them to charge me for the lane and ammo. my friend has some land out in Jackson (about 50 acres I think). when it gets warmer, we're heading out there. he just got a XD-m9 and I'm waiting for a Kimber Tactical Ultra II.
